Project Overview

Square Foot Gardening Foundation engaged me to develop an email welcome journey designed to nurture new subscribers, foster a sense of community, and inspire long-term engagement. The goal was to create a warm, personalized introduction to the Foundation’s mission while promoting educational resources, community involvement, and donor opportunities.


Project Goals

  • Welcome and engage new subscribers, validating their interest in Square Foot Gardening.

  • Educate recipients on global food insecurity and the Foundation’s grant programs.

  • Encourage participation in community programs, online courses, and social media groups.

  • Promote donations to support gardening initiatives worldwide.


Approach

  • Created a five-part email sequence triggered by newsletter sign-ups, featuring:

    • A friendly welcome email with a free gardening resource.

    • A gardener survey to personalize future communications.

    • An inspiring gardener story showcasing the mental health benefits of gardening.

    • A foundation spotlight highlighting global humanitarian efforts.

    • A donation appeal encouraging ongoing support for community programs.

  • Used YOU-centered language to make subscribers feel valued and connected.

  • Aligned messaging with the Foundation’s brand and broader outreach strategy.


Results

  • Successfully engaged new subscribers, strengthening community ties.

  • Increased survey participation rates, providing valuable audience insights.
